The situation in Gaza remains tense. According to local health authorities, at least 21 people were killed in strikes carried out by Israel on the night of July 22 and early morning of July 23. More than half of those killed were women and children.
Meanwhile, over 100 charity and human rights organizations have announced that Gaza's population is at risk of starvation due to Israel's siege and ongoing military operations.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), food shortages and undernourishment are sharply increasing in Gaza. Severe malnutrition is particularly reported among children and pregnant women. According to Dr. Rik Pepercorn, a WHO representative, more than 30,000 children under the age of five are suffering from severe malnutrition.
The Israeli government says it has eased food and aid delivery restrictions and that 4,500 trucks have entered Gaza since May. However, the UN and other international organizations say that this is not enough and that at least 500–600 trucks per day are needed.
Diplomatic efforts are also ongoing. U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff is holding meetings with Israeli and Palestinian representatives on ceasefire talks. The discussions are focusing on ending hostilities, releasing prisoners, and establishing lasting peace conditions. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
