Government offices temporarily closed in Iran as 50-degree heat hits
An extraordinary heatwave in Iran has disrupted daily life across the country, with temperatures in some regions reaching 50 degrees Celsius, zamin.uz reported. The hazardous weather has led to major interruptions in water and electricity supplies. According to local sources, on July 23 all government offices and banks in several provinces were temporarily closed.

Officials were forced to take this step due to the abnormal heat and an ongoing water and energy crisis. With temperatures far above normal, health issues among the population and outages in electricity and drinking water supplies have become widespread. In many regions, it has become impossible to provide government services, and most people are staying indoors.

According to EtemadOnline agency, government institutions and banks were temporarily closed in the following provinces:

. Tehran
. Khuzestan
. Kermanshah
. Markazi
. Sistan and Baluchestan
. Hormozgan
. Ilam
. Qom

Local authorities have urged residents to act with caution, stay home as much as possible, and conserve water and electricity. Officials also warned that continued heatwaves could force not only government offices but also schools and healthcare facilities to suspend their activities.

Authorities stated that emergency measures would remain in place until the situation stabilizes and all necessary assistance will be provided to citizens. This environmental crisis in Iran is also drawing the attention of international experts and environmental advocates.
