Two unique cultural symbols of Karakalpakstan - the ancient kobyz and the traditional yurt - have been officially included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. This news was received as a great victory not only for Karakalpakstan, but also for the entire culture of our country.
The Head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, read this event with great pride and satisfaction, describing it as a truly historic date. He emphasized that the adoption of such a decision at the committee's session in New Delhi once again demonstrates the depth and significance of our traditions.
"Today is an important and truly historic day for us. "I am proud to announce that at the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in New Delhi, India, two unique cultural values of Karakalpakstan - the kobyz and the yurt - were officially included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List," said Saida Mirziyoyeva.

As Saida Mirziyoyeva noted, the kobyz is a musical heritage that has left centuries behind, a symbol of spiritual strength and unconditional respect. The yurt is valued as a living symbol of the Karakalpak people's way of life, work culture, and hospitality. Their inclusion in the UNESCO list signifies the strengthening of the rich spiritual heritage they leave for future generations.
Mirziyoyeva specifically acknowledged the hard work and dedication behind this success: skilled artisans, researchers, patrons preserving traditions, and their apprentices made a huge contribution to this victory. This is not just the achievement of one group - it is a shared honor for all of us who love and value our culture.
"I express my gratitude to all skilled craftsmen, researchers, defenders of our traditions, and admirers who have contributed to the preservation and promotion of our rich heritage. This is the victory of everyone who belongs to our culture! And we will continue to move forward, protecting our unique values like the apple of our eye," Saida Mirziyoyeva wrote.

In short, this recognition is a symbol of respect for our past, pride in the present, and strong faith in the future. Strengthening our national identity, taking even more decisive steps towards protecting our cultural heritage like the apple of our eye, and preserving the unbreakable chain of generations is the responsibility of today's generation.
