Qatar warns of catastrophic consequences of Iran war

Majid al-Ansari, the official spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Middle East is in a state of regional war and that this situation could lead to disastrous consequences. He mentioned this while answering journalists' questions on March 10. Reports tengrinews.kz.
The diplomat emphasized that since 2023, Qatar has been constantly warning that the escalation of conflicts with Iran is dangerous for the whole world. According to him, Iran must stop its attacks before any diplomatic negotiations can begin.
Al-Ansari accused Tehran of striking civilian infrastructure in the Persian Gulf and beyond. He stressed that these actions not only threaten the region but could also cause a global humanitarian catastrophe. He also added that any attack on Qatar would be met with an appropriate response.
After Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized to neighboring countries, Qatar had hoped the attacks would stop. However, the strikes are still ongoing. The Iranian side has repeatedly stated that its attacks are solely aimed at US interests and that supporting America in the region is considered a hostile act.
In response, the Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that strategic relations with the US and other defense partners would not be questioned. It was noted that Patriot systems, together with American and European allies, are currently protecting the country, and this security partnership is the primary means of safeguarding Qatar from any attacks.
