A large anti-war rally in Tel Aviv ended with mass arrests and a shelter riot.
The participants of the rally, organized in the city center, demanded an immediate end to the violence and a diplomatic solution to the conflict. Hundreds of activists gathered in Gabim Square under the slogan "Partnership for Peace" and called on the government to stop the escalation.
However, the rally was dispersed in a noisy and brutal manner: the police intervened, declaring that the internal service regulations prohibiting public gatherings of more than 50 people due to the risk of rocket attacks were violated. 17 people were arrested during the clearing of the square.
The arrests were carried out in a tense atmosphere, with air raid sirens sounding nearby. Witnesses and human rights activists reported that the police did not allow the detainees to enter an underground shelter, leaving them in a patrol bus and a glass-walled room, exposed to rocket fire.
The incident highlighted the complex situation between the demand for peace and security in Tel Aviv. The protesters were deeply concerned and shocked, and the reaction of the opposition and the government sparked heated debate.
