Ocean Dream diamond sold for a record price at a Geneva auction

The famous Christie's auction in Geneva has gone down in history with another sensational record. The unique diamond ring known as the "Ocean Dream," which captured everyone's attention, was sold to its new owner for a record-breaking 13,567,500 Swiss francs (approximately 17.3 million dollars).
A 20-minute "battle" and a unique color
The intense bidding war between buyers eager to acquire this precious stone lasted nearly 20 minutes. As a result, the "Ocean Dream" set a new world record as the most expensive blue-green diamond in auction history.
Unique features of the ring:
Center stone: A 5.5-carat, rare triangular blue-green diamond.
Setting: The main stone is surrounded by about twenty elegant white diamonds cut in a rhombus shape.
Rarity recognized by scientists
The history of this rare diamond dates back to the 1990s—it was found in the mines of the Central African Republic. Experts from the world-famous Smithsonian Institution have included the "Ocean Dream" in the list of the 8 rarest diamonds on the planet due to its color and clarity. Such an assessment once again confirms how valuable the stone is.
An example of a profitable investment
Remarkably, this legendary ring is not being sold for the first time. 12 years ago, in May 2014, it was sold at the same Geneva auction for 7.7 million Swiss francs.
The fact that the value of the precious stone has nearly doubled over the time that has passed is a vivid example of how profitable it is to invest in works of art and rare jewelry.
In your opinion, is buying such rare items just a luxury or the safest investment for the future?
