
Sergey Brin, one of the co-founders of Google, has donated over $1.1 billion in the form of Alphabet shares to charity. This information was disclosed in a report published for regulators.
Although the document does not specify the exact recipients of more than 3.5 million shares, a representative of Brin’s family office provided details. Approximately $1 billion will go to Catalyst4, a nonprofit organization founded by Brin in 2021.
This organization supports projects researching central nervous system diseases and combating climate change. Another $90 million will be allocated to Brin's family foundation, while $45 million will be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which funds research on Parkinson's disease.
In May, Brin also donated $700 million in Alphabet shares to these three organizations. Sergey Brin, 52, is among the wealthiest people in the world, with an estimated net worth of $255.5 billion, according to Bloomberg data.
This year, Brin's wealth increased by $97.3 billion due to Alphabet shares reaching a record high price of $323 per share.
