Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has openly spoken about criticism surrounding the team, fan whistles, and midfielder Jude Bellingham's condition. Although Madrid defeated Levante 2-0 in La Liga on Saturday, the atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabéu was still tense: despite the victory, the stands greeted and saw off the team with whistles.
The reasons behind this are also known: before that, the "creamers" lost in the Spanish Super Cup final, and then they were eliminated from the country's Cup. In a big club, the demands for results are also high - fans don't like to be patient, especially at such times.
Mbappe, however, first put Bellingham's words in their place. He emphasized that no one could doubt Jude's talent, stating that his potential was enormous.
"No one doubts Bellingham's skill. It has enormous potential. If he's in very good form, he'll become one of the best footballers in the world," said Mbappe.
At the same time, the French star didn't hide the overall situation in the team: it's not an easy time now, everyone is feeling pressure. Mbappé expressed his understanding of the fans' dissatisfaction but also openly stated that the objection should be fair.
"Now is a difficult time for everyone. We understand the fans' dissatisfaction. But they shouldn't cling to one person, they should protest to everyone. It's not just Jude's fault or anyone else's. Changing the situation is our task," he stressed.
That is, according to Mbappe, the team's problem doesn't depend on a single player: the overall work on the field, the mental state, the responsibility for the result - it's all a team matter. At the "Real" level, it's natural for both the stands and the media to see every game as an exam, every mistake as big.
Now, the focus is on the Champions League. While the victory over Levante is the next three points in La Liga, the European field is a completely different pressure and a different price. Mbappé also recalled this, emphasizing that the only way to bring back the fans is movement on the field and quality play.
"We won La Liga, now we need to focus on the Champions League. If the fans see us trying and playing well, they will support us again," he said at a press conference before the match against Monaco.
In short, the whistle at the Bernabeu is a signal. But Mbappe is saying one thing: the team won't run away from this pressure; on the contrary, it will motivate them. Now, the most important answer for Real Madrid is the one given on the field, not in front of the microphone.
