Bayramyan: Armenia can rise like Uzbekistan

Armenian footballer Khoren Bayramyan, who played together with the captain of the Uzbekistan national team, Eldor Shomurodov, during the time of "Rostov" in the Russian Premier League, spoke about the current state and future hopes of his country's national team. The experienced midfielder didn't hide the fact that Armenia isn't currently among the teams achieving great results, but he openly expressed optimism about the future.
Bayramyan emphasized that, first of all, he, like every Armenian, painfully accepts the results. He believes that the national team is currently surrounded by people who "know what to do." Most importantly, the team is young, which means there is both time and resources ahead for growth, formation, and reaching new heights.
- As a former player of every Armenian and national team, I take the results very hard. But I think that now there are people in the team and around them who can see the way. The team is still young. Sooner or later, Armenia will also rise," Bayramyan said.
He gave a very interesting example to reinforce his point: Uzbekistan. According to Bayramyan, the "white wolves" have proven in practice what they are capable of in recent years. Some call it a sensation, others a miracle, but the main thing is the result and level. The confidence that Armenia can take such a big step is clearly felt in Bayramyan's words.
- Uzbekistan can be an example for us in this regard. Whether you call their achievements a sensation or a miracle, they have already demonstrated their potential. "I believe that Armenia can follow the same path," he said.
According to Bayramyan, there is one important condition for such growth: players must travel to foreign leagues to gain experience and develop. That is, a strong atmosphere, speed, competition - these prepare the footballer for the big stage faster.
In this regard, the path of the Armenian national team in 2025 was also recalled. In the final year, the team failed to qualify for the World Cup: five losses out of six matches, only one victory - against Ireland 2:1. The heaviest shots came against Portugal: scores of 5:0 and 9:1 in two matches remained a very painful statistic for Armenia. As a result, the team finished last in Group "F."
The most interesting point in the text opens at the end: at the World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, the Portugal national team is in the same group as the Uzbekistan national team, which Bayramyan mentioned with admiration. These two teams from the "K" quartet will face each other in the second round of the group stage - the match is scheduled for June 23.
In short, Bayramyan's statement comes down to one point: the current result is not a verdict. Through a proper system, patience, working with youth, and gaining experience abroad, Armenia can also one day speak on the big stage. Uzbekistan is a real example for them on this path.
