Yulduz Usmonova spoke frankly: concert, taxes, and truth...

Uzbekistan’s People’s Artist Yulduz Usmonova again became the center of public attention with an interview given ahead of her solo concerts, which will take place from April 12 to April 30. During the conversation, the artist spoke not only about her new concert program but also openly shared her opinions on current issues in the show business, particularly regarding tax policy.
According to the singer, on stage she aims not just to entertain the audience, but to present deep meanings and impact the listeners’ emotions.
— A person who reflects certainly feels and sometimes cries. But this is not weakness; it is the voice of conscience. If a person finds themselves in a song, it is natural for them to be moved, — the artist said.
She emphasized that in earlier times, songs were more meaningful and soul-stirring. That is why in the new program she plans to prioritize works that reach the heart and make people think.
At the same time, Yulduz Usmonova spoke sharply about the current concert culture. In her view, external effects — lights, stage decorations, or costumes — are not decisive; the song itself is.
— If a song does not reach the heart, no lights or show can save it. Let them remember not me, but my songs — this is my greatest achievement, — the singer noted.
The most discussed part of the interview was devoted to the new tax system being planned for artists. According to the plans, starting in 2026, artists’ services will be registered through a special application and taxed according to the principle “one service — one payment.”
Yulduz Usmonova openly expressed her position on this issue:
— If we are wasteful, then why are we invited to state events? An artist also works and incurs expenses. Few people understand how much money and effort goes into a single song, — she said.
In her view, for a fair system in the arts, first of all, copyright must be protected, and the revenues from songs must be distributed transparently.
— My songs have been performed for years, but I have hardly received any income from them. If the system is fair, only then can we talk about taxes, — the artist added.
Thus, this statement by Yulduz Usmonova is likely to spark wide discussion not only among her fans but also among representatives of the entire show business.
Overall, the artist once again showed that she is not afraid to openly express her position. Her concerts, apparently, will become not just a musical show, but an event that awakens thoughts and emotions.
