Arsenal's football team defeated Brentford 2-0, securing an important victory in the 14th round of the English Premier League (EPL). Mikel Arteta's side maintained its lead over Manchester City, further solidifying its position at the top of the standings.
The match began with full control from the home side. Arsenal actively launched attacks through the wings.
In the 11th minute, Mikel Merino won an aerial challenge and directed the ball into the goal with his head after a precise pass from Ben White, opening the scoring. Brentford attempted to build counterattacks, but Arsenal's defense performed reliably.
In the second half, the visitors increased the tempo of their attacks, but Arsenal maintained its dominance. In the 68th minute, Declan Rice unleashed a dangerous long-range shot, and Merino came close to converting the rebound into a goal.
However, the decisive moment happened later. In the 78th minute, Merino advanced the ball through the center and made a precise pass to Bukayo Saka.
Saka entered the penalty area, bypassed a defender, and shot towards the far corner. Goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher attempted to stop the ball, but it crossed the goal line — 2-0.
Towards the end of the match, there was a clash between Piero Hincapié and Igor Thiago, but both players continued the game. Arsenal controlled possession and calmly aimed to bring the game to a close.
Brentford made several substitutions, but they could not create any real danger near the home team's goal.
