China head coach: Uzbekistan are a very strong opponent, we will fight

After the third-round U-23 Asian Cup match in Saudi Arabia between Thailand and China, China head coach Antonio Vicente attended a press conference and shared his thoughts on their quarter-final opponent, Uzbekistan.

“Our quarter-final opponent is Uzbekistan. It’s a very tough opponent, but if we keep playing at this pace, we are ready to step onto the pitch and fight for victory. For now it’s hard to say anything specific about Uzbekistan, but their results over the last 10 years have been simply fantastic. The performances of the senior national team, as well as the U-23 and U-20 teams, fully demonstrate their strength. I would say Uzbekistan are one of the top 3 or 4 national teams in Asia,” Vicente said.

He also stressed that Uzbekistan are among the strongest national teams in Asia and said he is ready to fight against them.

“We will fight,” the Chinese coach added.

Uzbekistan’s national-team achievements in recent years, especially the U-23 team’s strong results, show they have added new dimensions to their success in Asian football and increased interest in facing any strong opponent.
