Top 10 chess players with the highest prize money in 2025

Uzbek grandmasters Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Javokhir Sindarov finished 2025 in the world’s top 10 highest-earning chess players by total prize money. This was reported by kursiv.uz. reports .
In the ranking, Abdusattorov took 9th place: he played in 16 major international tournaments and earned a total of $361.8K in prize money. His biggest payout from a single event during the year was $85K.
FIDE World Cup winner Javokhir Sindarov placed 10th. Based on results from 11 tournaments, the grandmaster collected $349.9K in prize money, with his largest fee for a single start reaching $120K.
At the top of the list was Magnus Carlsen: the Norwegian played 16 tournaments, earned $1.46M, and remained the only player whose prize money exceeded $1M. Fabiano Caruana was second ($889.6K), Levon Aronian third ($751.9K), and Hikaru Nakamura fourth ($588.9K).
