City with Husanov take a win away at Newcastle

In the first leg of the English League Cup semi-final, Newcastle United lost 0–2 at home to Manchester City. For the visitors, Abduqodir Husanov started and delivered a solid performance in defense. This was reported by kursiv.uz. reports .
The first half was cautious from both sides: few shots and almost no accurate efforts on target. Although City dominated possession, Newcastle did not rush to create danger around the penalty area. The hosts tried to respond through set pieces and quick attacks by Wissa and Gordon. In the most dangerous moment, Wissa headed over the crossbar.
After the break, Newcastle increased the pressure and created two chances in quick succession: first, goalkeeper Trafford saved Wissa’s shot that was heading close to the post, and soon after, Guimarães hit the post from close range. Despite that, City opened the scoring in the 53rd minute: Doku broke through down the left, Silva continued the move, and Semenyo finished at the far post.
Later, Semenyo flicked the ball into the net with his heel for a stylish goal, but VAR ruled Haaland offside and the effort was disallowed. Late on, Cherki sealed the result to make it 2–0. Lewis was booked for time-wasting, but City held on and did not let the win slip away.
