Thiago Alcantara says goodbye to Barcelona: Hansi Flick confirms his departure

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick commented on Thiago Alcantara, who is leaving his coaching staff at the end of the season. Thiago, who transitioned from midfield to coaching, said goodbye to the team after Friday's training session. Flick highlighted his professional mentality and role at the club, expressing gratitude to the 35-year-old specialist. This is reported by Goal.com .
Thiago Alcantara joined Hansi Flick's staff in 2024 after his arrival at Camp Nou. Although he left for a short period, he returned in September. However, after one season, the former player decided to continue his own path. In a press conference, Flick spoke about the mutual respect between him and Thiago that has existed since their time at Bayern.
"I told the staff and players about our history with Thiago. When I became head coach at Bayern, one of my first difficult decisions was to bench him. It was tough for both of us because he was a world-class player. But the attitude and professionalism he showed back then were simply amazing," said the German coach.
Thiago's role in Barcelona's coaching staff was crucial for Flick's adaptation to the Catalan club. A La Masia graduate who speaks several languages fluently, the former Liverpool star acted as a unique bridge between the coach and the dressing room. Flick highly valued his impact at the club.
"He helped me a lot here. Thiago is a person with an elite mentality. We will miss him, but I understand that he has his own plans and I respect that. I hope he will return someday because football needs people like him," added Hansi Flick.
