Russia becomes world leader in app removals from App Store

Apple has published its new transparency report, which records an unprecedented level of censorship in the Russian segment of the App Store: in 2025, 1,213 apps were removed from the store at the request of the Russian government. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
This figure has made Russia the absolute global leader in app removals. The number of removals in Russia has increased 7-fold compared to 2024 (171 apps) and 100-fold compared to 2023 (12 apps).
Russia has significantly surpassed other countries that regulate content at the state level. For comparison: 335 apps were removed in Vietnam, 196 in China, and only 54 in India.
Apple's official position remains unchanged — the corporation removes content only to ensure compliance with local laws and based on official requests from government authorities.
