Chelsea mocks Arsenal after Champions League defeat

Chelsea brutally mocked Arsenal after their Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain, jokingly calling themselves "worthy of a red card" once again. Shortly after Mikel Arteta's side fell in the final stages of the Budapest showdown, the Blues decided to remind their North London rivals of the continental hierarchy. This is reported by Goal.com reports .
After the match at the Puskas Arena ended 1-1, a penalty shootout miss by Gabriel proved costly for Arsenal, handing the trophy to the French giants. Before Arsenal players could even process the defeat, Chelsea posted an advertisement for stadium tours on social media. The slogan "London's trophy cabinet" and an image of the Champions League trophy served as a reminder that Chelsea is the only London club to have won this prestigious competition (2012 and 2021).
A few hours later, Chelsea's social media team posted a humorous follow-up to soften the situation. Referencing the club's disciplinary issues in the 2025-26 season, it read: "We deserve another red card for our previous post! But in all seriousness, congratulations to Arsenal on their Premier League success and a fantastic Champions League run." For context, Chelsea set a record last season by receiving eight red cards.
Chelsea were not the only ones enjoying Arsenal's continental failure. Crystal Palace, recent winners of the Conference League, showcased their trophy with the caption "European Champions." Nottingham Forest also mocked the Londoners by highlighting their own historical European Cups. These incidents show that despite Arsenal's domestic dominance, their lack of silverware on the European stage remains a primary target for rivals.
Mikel Arteta did not hide his emotions after the defeat: "It is very difficult to accept losing on penalties after showing consistent form until the final." Midfielder Declan Rice agreed with his manager, noting that losing a Champions League final in this manner is mentally crushing.
