Roskosmos shows traces of a star death 1360 light-years from Earth

Roskosmos has published a new image of one of the most famous objects in space and the first planetary nebula discovered by humanity — the Dumbbell Nebula. This object was discovered in 1764 by French astronomer Charles Messier and holds an important place in the history of astronomy. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
The nebula is located approximately 1360 light-years from Earth in the constellation Vulpecula. Due to its unique shape, it resembles a sports dumbbell, which is why it received its name. In reality, it is a massive cloud of hot gas formed after a dying star shed its outer layers.
Such objects are of particular interest to scientists because they allow for the observation of one of the final stages in the life of Sun-like stars. Over time, the central star of such nebulae turns into a white dwarf.
The presented image was captured using a TAL-200K telescope. To create a detailed and clear image, a series of frames with a total exposure time of nearly 10 hours was used.
