China successfully launches another 18 internet satellites into orbit

China has taken another step in expanding its global internet infrastructure. As part of the SpaceSail (Qianfan) project, 18 new satellites were successfully launched into space. This was reported by Ixbt.com news reports.

This mission was carried out from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site using a Long March-8 (Changzheng-8) rocket. These satellites operate in Ku, Q, and V bands and were developed by Shanghai Spacesail Technologies with the support of the Shanghai government.

According to the plan, the number of satellites in this system is expected to reach 15,000 by the end of 2030. This project will significantly increase China's global internet coverage capabilities.

The Long March-8 rocket completed its sixth flight. This new-generation carrier can lift up to 7.6 tons into low Earth orbit. Today's flight marked the historic 643rd successful mission for the Changzheng rocket family.
