Meta launches Forum, a Reddit-like application

Meta has introduced a new standalone app called Forum, designed for Facebook Groups. The company envisions this platform as a system functioning like Reddit, describing it as a "dedicated space for deep discussions, clear answers, and communities that users value." The app was first spotted by social media expert Matt Navarra. This is reported by TechCrunch.
Users can log in to the Forum app using their Facebook accounts. The system automatically syncs the user's groups, profile, and activity. Just like in the standard Facebook app, there is an option to post under a nickname. Meta representatives state that groups will remain on the Facebook platform, and any content shared in the Forum app will also be visible in the main network's groups.
The app's main feed is focused on live conversations within groups, allowing users to see opinions from real people rather than just trending topics. Forum also includes an AI-powered "Ask" section. Through this feature, users can get aggregated answers from discussions across various groups. Additionally, an AI assistant has been introduced to help group administrators manage content.
This is not Meta's first attempt at releasing a separate app for groups. In 2014, the company launched the Groups app, but it was shut down in 2017. The Forum app is the second product introduced by Meta in recent weeks. Last month, the company also released Instants, an app that allows Instagram users to share temporary photos with friends.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Mark Zuckerberg has stated that the company plans to create more apps in the future by leveraging artificial intelligence to increase productivity. In a conversation with Chief Product Officer Chris Cox, Zuckerberg mentioned discussing the possibility of creating up to 50 new apps.
