Polluting Enterprises in Tashkent to Be Relocated

Enterprises polluting Tashkent air to be relocated
According to a decision by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, enterprises polluting the air in Tashkent will be relocated to industrial zones. In addition, stricter requirements will be imposed on industrial facilities, especially those operating during nighttime hours.

Among other initiatives, it is planned to revise the procedure for issuing environmental permits and licenses to enterprises. The use of vehicles that do not meet environmental standards will be prohibited, and stricter control will be introduced over chemicals and fuels.

A special commission will begin inspecting all facilities – factories, construction sites, and vehicles – that negatively impact the city's ecology within three days. Subsequently, companies causing air pollution will be identified and specific requirements imposed on them.

Strengthening control over construction sites is also part of the plan. Construction companies will be required to install systems to suppress dust, irrigate, and purify air.

Proposals will be prepared to temporarily restrict or suspend the activities of enterprises that violate environmental regulations.
