Uzbekistan to Participate in Dota 2 Tournament
Uzbekistan's delegation is finalizing preparations for the final stage of a major international competition set to take place in the Russian Federation, Upl.uz reports.

The event in question is an open student esports tournament, which annually unites youth teams from various corners of the world. According to official information, the Dota 2 category finals are scheduled to be held on December 20-21 this year in Moscow.

Alongside Uzbekistan's esports competitors, representatives from 11 other countries will also showcase their skills during the tournament. Organizers have announced that among the teams successfully advancing past the qualifiers are countries such as Argentina, Kazakhstan, and India.

The number of participating countries continues to grow, reflecting increasing international interest in this competition. Dmitry Smith, President of the Russian Esports Federation, shared his views on the scale of the upcoming event.

According to him, this tournament will be the fourth in the organization's history. The federation's president highlighted the unprecedented increase in engagement from international partners.

This season, the organizers received a record number of applications from abroad—participants from 51 countries have expressed their intentions to compete. The open student esports games are steadily establishing themselves as a key platform that unites young people from various nations every year.

A review of past years' figures clearly shows the growth in participation. For comparison, similar competitions organized in 2014 saw athletes from 38 countries taking part. The increase in the number of participant countries indicates that electronic sports are becoming a universal language of communication among modern students.

The category in which Uzbekistan's team will compete requires a high level of teamwork and tactical preparation. Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game.

The game takes place on a specially designed map where two teams clash, each consisting of five players. The primary objective is to destroy the main building, or "Throne," located in the opponent's base.

Each participant controls a unique character with distinct features and abilities, which define their tactical role in the team’s strategy. The largest prize pool in esports history was recorded in the Dota 2 category—the prize pool for The International 2021 tournament exceeded $40 million, rivaling the prize pools of many traditional sports events.
