Cases of becoming a mother after 40 are increasing in Uzbekistan

While birth rates in Uzbekistan remain stable, another interesting trend is being observed — the number of late motherhood cases is growing. According to the Statistics Agency, a total of 191,086 babies were born in the country in the first three months of 2026.
Notably, during this period, more than 3,400 women over the age of 40 became mothers for the first time or once again. In some cases, it is noted that women nearing the age of 50 are also giving birth to healthy children.
Experts explain this situation primarily through advancements in the medical field. Thanks to modern diagnostics, reproductive health services, and improved medical supervision, women now have the opportunity to have healthy children at a much later age.
Social factors also play an important role. Many women postpone motherhood, aiming first to complete their education, establish a professional career, or achieve financial stability.
Doctors emphasize that despite the increased possibility of late motherhood, it is crucial to constantly monitor health, undergo medical check-ups, and follow the recommendations of specialists.
This trend is being widely discussed on social media. Some view it as a demand of the times, while others express various opinions regarding the most optimal age for becoming a mother.
