Another sharp statement has been made in US politics. Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, elected from Connecticut, responded to President Donald Trump's statement on the situation with Iran and openly admitted that the US is failing in military operations.
According to the senator, this conflict is not giving the results that Washington expected. On the contrary, the situation is becoming more and more complicated, which has negative consequences for the US.
"We are losing this war," Murphy made a sharp and clear statement. He stressed that American forces are not able to completely eliminate Iran's military potential. In particular, the threat of missiles and drones remains, and the nuclear program has not been completely eliminated.
According to the senator, Iran is even stronger than before the conflict. In particular, the preservation of control over the strategically important Strait of Hormuz is a clear proof of this.
Murphy also criticized the fact that the United States is wasting huge resources on this war. In his opinion, the country is spending billions of dollars, but these expenses are not bringing the expected results.
“We are spending billions that we do not have and putting American lives at risk. This war will not only further destabilize the world, but may also show the United States as an irresponsible power,” the senator said.
This statement once again showed how different domestic views are in US politics. On the one hand, official Washington is in favor of increasing pressure, on the other hand, some politicians are seriously concerned about the consequences of this path.
It is still unclear how the situation will develop. But one thing is certain - this conflict is causing heated debate not only on the front line, but also in the political arena.
