USA Imposes New Requirements for Foreigners Seeking Green Cards

A new rule regarding the Green Card application process in the US has been announced. Foreigners wishing to change their immigration status must now submit their applications from their home country rather than from within the US.

According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, applications must be submitted from abroad via the State Department's official website. Those temporarily in the country who wish to obtain permanent residency are required to return to their home countries.

The US Department of Homeland Security stated that this decision is aimed at maintaining the immigration system legally and reducing the exploitation of existing loopholes.

However, HIAS, an organization that helps migrants and refugees, criticized this policy. They believe the new procedure could pose risks to victims of human trafficking and children fleeing violence.
