A referendum on limiting the population size is planned in Switzerland. According to the initiative, the country's population should not exceed 10 million by 2050.
Under the document, if the population exceeds 9.5 million before the deadline, the government could reduce quotas for granting asylum and family reunification.
The referendum will take place on June 14. The initiative was proposed by the right-wing Swiss People's Party, which suggests adopting a law to limit the number of permanent residents.
According to polls, a large portion of Swiss citizens may support this initiative due to growing housing shortages and increasing pressure on infrastructure.
