According to the report by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the activity of microfinance organizations (MFOs) and pawnshops significantly increased by the end of the third quarter of 2025. During this period, their assets and capital grew, though risks also surged due to high interest rates and non-performing loans.
The report states that 90 percent of loans, or 19.2 trillion soums, were allocated to individuals. Meanwhile, loans provided to entrepreneurs also increased, reaching 1.2 trillion soums by early October.
During the third quarter, 26 new MFOs and pawnshops were opened across the country, bringing the total number to 218.
