The tanker was stopped during an operation carried out in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and the Navy. Reports say the tanker tried to evade US forces after leaving Venezuela.
The “Olina” tanker is listed on the sanctions lists of several countries. In recent weeks, this is the fifth tanker seized by the US. Experts describe this as a continuous operation to control Venezuelan oil exports.
The seizure was filmed, showing troops descending onto the ship from a helicopter. This operation is part of US measures to inspect oil tankers in the Caribbean and ensure compliance with sanctions.
