Mandarin and Banana Imports Continue to Rise in Uzbekistan

Mandarin and banana imports continue to rise in Uzbekistan

According to data from the State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan imported mandarins worth $256.4 million from January to November 2025. This figure represents a 9.4% increase compared to the same period last year, indicating a steadily growing demand for citrus fruits in the country.

The majority of mandarin imports came from Pakistan and Kazakhstan. Specifically, 327,100 tons were imported from Pakistan, while Kazakhstan supplied 314,300 tons. These two countries continue to dominate as the main suppliers to Uzbekistan's market.

Additionally, Ecuador, China, and Afghanistan also play significant roles in mandarin imports. Although the quantities from these countries are smaller, they contribute to diversifying import sources and ensuring market stability.

Interestingly, Uzbekistan also recorded a milestone in banana imports during the first half of 2025. In this period, the country imported 95,300 tons of bananas, marking an increase of nearly 5% compared to the previous year.

Nearly all of the imported bananas — 98.6% or 94,000 tons — were supplied by Ecuador. This signifies Ecuador's undisputed leadership in Uzbekistan's banana market. Additionally, a smaller quantity of bananas was imported from countries such as Kyrgyzstan and India.

Experts attribute the growth in mandarin and banana imports to evolving consumption habits among the population and an increasing demand for tropical and citrus fruits in the market. This trend is expected to continue in the coming years.
