Gas and Oil Production Declines in Uzbekistan

Gas and oil production volumes decrease in Uzbekistan

By the end of the first 11 months of 2025, a significant decline in natural gas production volumes in Uzbekistan was reported. According to data provided by the State Statistics Committee, a total of 38.9 billion cubic meters of gas were extracted nationwide during the reporting period. This figure is 5.1 percent lower compared to the same period last year.

A decline was also observed in the oil production sector. While 657,600 tons of oil were extracted last year, this year the figure fell to 601,200 tons. Experts attribute this situation to the natural depletion of reserves as well as certain infrastructural limitations.

Similar trends were noted in the fuel market. While gasoline production at the beginning of the year amounted to nearly 1.9 million tons, by December this figure had decreased to around 1 million tons. This situation has further highlighted concerns regarding fuel supply in the domestic market.

In mid-December, Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, speaking before the Legislative Chamber deputies, announced that several measures are being planned to stabilize gas production volumes in the coming year. He emphasized that, following the instructions of the head of state, additional financial and technical resources have been allocated to intensify geological exploration in promising areas.

Furthermore, it was announced that the Muynak field has been connected to the country’s gas supply system as a significant step. It is planned to extract an average of 3 million cubic meters of gas daily from this field, which is expected to contribute to compensating the overall volume in the upcoming period.

Experts believe that the measures being taken could help restore balance in the energy sector and ensure stable fulfillment of domestic demand in the medium term.
