Shunin Evaluates Safonov's Future at PSG

Former "Dinamo" goalkeeper Anton Shunin has assessed the future prospects of Matvey Safonov. The Russian footballer recently began playing for PSG this season and shone in the Intercontinental Cup final by saving four penalty kicks during the post-match shootout.

However, Safonov sustained an injury in that match and will be out of action for approximately a month. According to Shunin, Safonov has demonstrated that he is ready to compete with the best goalkeepers in the world.

The former "Dinamo" player believes that Safonov could become PSG's primary goalkeeper. "Matvey is being given opportunities — and he is making the most of them.

Safonov is a talented player. If he continues to overcome these challenges, he will have the chance to become the main goalkeeper for one of the best teams in the world," Shunin’s statement was reported by "Match TV."

Matvey Safonov transferred from “Krasnodar” to PSG in the summer of 2024. Media reports suggest that the Parisian club paid €20 million for the Russian footballer’s transfer.
