Scientists discovered: Work 75 minutes, take a 33-minute break!
Working more doesn’t always mean working more effectively. A recently published scientific analysis has once again proven this. According to an article by the British Daily Mail, based on the DeskTime platform, observations of 6,000 people in 2024 showed that the most optimal work format for increasing productivity is 75 minutes of non-stop work followed by a 33-minute break.

This new cycle, named 75/33, is especially beneficial for employees working in an office environment, says DeskTime CEO Artis Rozentals. According to him, people in the workplace often allow themselves short breaks — drinking coffee, chatting with colleagues, or going outside. While such breaks may initially seem unproductive, in reality, they serve as a “recharge” source for the body.

Moreover, the company had conducted similar studies in previous years:

- In 2014 — 52 minutes of work and 17 minutes of rest;

- In 2021 — 112 minutes of work and 26 minutes of break were considered effective.

Rozentals explains that global changes in work format have influenced the results. During remote work, maintaining a balance between personal and professional life became more difficult, whereas today’s hybrid work model requires a return to office-based activities.

Therefore, the new 75/33 cycle was designed specifically considering office environments. Its effectiveness lies in helping employees achieve not only high productivity but also stable mental well-being.

Following such simple principles in work life not only improves efficiency but also has a positive effect on overall life quality.

If you want to work well — don’t forget to rest properly!
