Dick Advocaat Leads Curaçao National Team to World Cup Qualification


The Curaçao national team, led by Dick Advocaat, has qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time. This was reported by Rusfootball.info.

The football club "Zenit" congratulated its former head coach on this achievement. The Curaçao national team secured a World Cup spot for the first time in its history.

They managed to retain the top position in their group after a 0–0 draw against Jamaica in the final match of the qualification round. This accomplishment by the 78-year-old Dutch coach marks a significant historical milestone for his team.

The FIFA World Cup will take place in 2026, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Dick Advocaat has been coaching the Curaçao national team since 2024.

Previously, he had a successful tenure with the "Zenit" club from 2006 to 2009. For reference, Curaçao is a self-governing state within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The island is located in the southern Caribbean Sea, near the coast of Venezuela.
