About the opponent
Both meetings between Uzbekistan and Iran in the Asian Cup ended in 1–1 draws. In the 2020 and 2022 matches, Islamjon Qobilov and Otabek Jo‘raqo‘ziyev scored for Uzbekistan.
Iran featured at the 2022 Asian Cup and later were in the same group as Uzbekistan in the 2024 qualifiers. In that match, a lone goal by Abbosbek Fayzullayev gave Uzbekistan the win. Iran, however, failed to secure a ticket to the final tournament.
Uzbekistan U-23 head coach Ravshan Haydarov stressed the need to analyze Iran’s match against the Republic of Korea and take a strategic approach to every game. In his view, every point matters and the team must keep accumulating them.
