Uzbek tennis player Polina Kudermetova finished the Canberra Challenger in second place. In the final, she lost to Taiwan’s Joanna Garland 6:4, 6:2, UzA reports.

As a result of the tournament, Kudermetova earned $19.7 thousand in prize money. Her opponent, who became the champion, took home more than $33.6 thousand. For the WTA rankings, Kudermetova received 81 points, while Garland was awarded 125 points.

Polina Kudermetova has been representing Uzbekistan since the end of last year. Before that, she competed for Russia. At the time she joined the Uzbekistan national team, she was ranked 104th in the WTA standings.

The athlete’s coach is renowned Russian tennis player Dinara Safina. She previously also worked with Diana Shnaider, who won a silver medal in doubles at the 2024 Olympics.
