According to Ugarov, to assess these teams’ strength, they should have played a match against the Russia national team first. “Both Curacao and Cape Verde should have played Russia before qualifying for the final stage. Curacao, coached by Dick Advocaat, will compete in Group E at the 2026 World Cup group stage against Germany, Ecuador and Côte d’Ivoire. Cape Verde were drawn in Group H, where they will face Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.
