Controversy surrounding the thickness of the Sony Xperia 1 VIII smartphone

The new Sony Xperia 1 VIII flagship smartphone, priced at around 1500 euros, faced serious criticism shortly after its release. Renowned insider OnLeaks accused the Japanese company of deliberately misrepresenting the smartphone's thickness. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

According to official Sony data, the device's body thickness was supposed to be 8.3 mm. However, tests conducted with professional measuring tools revealed that the actual thickness of the smartphone is 8.59 mm.

Technically, the smartphone is equipped with a 6.5-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, three 48-megapixel cameras, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. The device also features a 5000 mAh battery.

One of the device's unique features is the retention of the 3.5 mm headphone jack, which is rare in modern flagships. The new model stands out with an updated square camera block and is available in four colors, including an exclusive gold version with 1 TB of storage.
