Tesla investor Sawyer Merritt, citing a podcast featuring Tesla's VP of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy and Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, announced that the new Roadster will be manufactured at the Texas plant. This is reported by Ixbt.com reporting .
Once production of Model S and Model X concludes at Giga Texas, the facility will specialize in assembling four main models: Model Y, Cybertruck, Cybercab, and the long-awaited new Roadster. Company executives confirmed that production plans are ready and many updates are expected in the coming months.
This decision establishes Giga Texas as the primary hub for Tesla's high-performance and autonomous vehicles. The new Tesla Roadster is expected to be an electric supercar with revolutionary technical specifications.
According to available information, the electric vehicle will be equipped with a tri-motor powertrain and a 200 kWh battery. This will allow for a range of 1,000 km on a single charge. Most impressively, the car is said to reach 100 km/h in approximately one second.
