Special Commission on Ecology Established

A Special Commission on Ecology Has Been Established
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a resolution aimed at taking urgent measures to improve the environmental conditions in Tashkent. According to this resolution, a special commission will be established in the city.

The commission will monitor the environmental situation and implement necessary restrictions. It will also have the authority to temporarily halt the operations of greenhouses and other air-polluting facilities if deemed necessary.

Additionally, the commission will oversee the installation of filtration systems in industrial enterprises and ensure the implementation of previously adopted environmental resolutions. The team will also monitor efforts to phase out the consumption of AI-80 gasoline.

The organization’s representatives will have the power to prohibit construction projects in water protection zones around rivers and canals, as well as to impose restrictions on industrial activities and vehicle movement during periods of high dust pollution. The commission’s decisions are mandatory for all state agencies, organizations, and citizens.

Furthermore, new requirements will include making the use of dust control equipment in construction mandatory. Restrictions on vehicle movement may also be introduced if necessary.

For instance, temporary bans could be placed on the entry of freight vehicles into the city, or traffic could be regulated on alternating days based on even and odd license plate numbers. These restrictions will not apply to electric vehicles.
