34-year-old angler Sean Ing caught the largest pike in the UK. The giant fish weighs 68 kilograms and is almost 2.5 meters long.
The fish turned out to be so heavy that when the fishermen tried to measure it, the hook on the scales bent. In addition, the pike turned out to be very strong: an hour and a half after it swallowed the bait on the tip of the hook, it continued to resist. Several people pulled it ashore.
According to the record holder, he has been fishing since childhood. Sean Eng's interest in the sport was sparked by his grandfather:
"It's not just a hobby for me, it's a source of inspiration," he says.
The record-breaking catch was a surprise for Eng. But he's dreamed of catching the biggest fish in the country since he was a child. The fisherman, who learned he had set a record, is delighted to have achieved his dream.
The giant walleye was caught in a lake near Maldon, Essex, in late September 2024, but the record was confirmed yesterday by the British Fisheries Service.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the largest walleye ever caught in a competition weighed 64.86 kilograms. The record was set by Richard Nicholas Anderson in Virginia, USA, on June 18, 2011. Ing's catch is almost four kilograms more than the previous record, so he can claim to enter the list of world record holders. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
