The tense political situation in the Middle East has once again captured global attention. Former Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, through his recent statement, has added new pressure to the already complex geopolitical balance in the region.
According to him, the Iranian government poses a serious threat not only to Israel but also to broader regional stability. Gantz described the Islamic Republic as a “global and regional problem” and emphasized that it is completely unacceptable for the Iranian regime to possess nuclear weapons.
“We made the right decision with our previous strikes. If this regime does not abandon its nuclear program — we may have to strike again,” Gantz said.
He stated that the best solution would be peaceful pressure to compel Tehran to abandon its nuclear activities, but this method does not seem to be working in practice. Therefore, military measures may return to the agenda.
Such statements may further complicate relations between Iran and the international community. At the same time, the harsh rhetoric of Israeli politicians also appears to be escalating the country’s internal political climate.
The US and European countries are currently maintaining a cautious observer stance. However, this kind of rhetoric will likely influence Washington’s plans for negotiations with Tehran as well.
Benny Gantz’s remarks may trigger broad discussions about Israel’s new security strategy. Each political statement on Iran’s nuclear capability becomes a key factor that affects not only regional stability but also the future of international relations. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
