A sensational event in the IT industry: Astronomer company CEO Andy Byron got into an unexpected situation at a Coldplay concert in Boston and became the “new hero” of social networks, reported hesun.co.uk. On July 17, during the traditional “Kiss Cam” show at the concert, Byron and his colleague Christine Cabot caught the attention of thousands of spectators and millions of internet users.
During the intermission, the “Kiss Cam” TV camera was directed straight at Andy Byron and Christine Cabot, who was hugging him. In the unexpected situation, Byron immediately stepped aside, and the woman hid her face. Coldplay’s frontman humorously commented on the moment: “either they have a romantic relationship or they are very shy.” The video quickly went viral, and the media and bloggers identified the event’s participants.
It turned out that Byron is married, and there is no public information about Cabot’s marital status. After the scandal, the company’s board of directors announced an internal investigation and officially sent Byron on leave. Temporarily, the CEO duties are performed by company co-founder Pete DeJay.
In Astronomer’s official statement: “we prioritize not only technological results, but also corporate culture and ethics. Leaders must set an example for everyone.”
This event once again showed how the personal life and public behavior of IT industry leaders can affect a company. Byron and Cabot have not commented yet, and fans are waiting for Astronomer’s management to make a decision. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
