How long you live in the world and what condition you’ll be in when you become elderly does not depend only on diet or genetic factors, but is also closely related to where you live. This was reported through Science Focus based on the latest study published in Nature Medicine.
It was determined that people living in developed and ecologically and socially favorable countries like Denmark are significantly healthier and live longer than others. Researchers examined data on nearly 160,000 people living in 40 countries. Their conclusion is clear: where you live either accelerates or slows down the aging process.
These findings also showed that healthy aging rates are lower in some regions of Africa, Asia, and South America. For example, the population of Egypt was identified as one of the fastest-aging in the world — their biological age, meaning the condition of their body, is about 2.35 years older than their chronological age.
A similar situation is observed in certain countries of Southern Africa and South America. European countries, on the other hand, are leading in natural and healthy aging. In particular, Denmark took the first place in this regard.
According to scientists, factors like air quality, social equality, economic stability, women's rights, election participation opportunities, and political freedom have a strong effect on human aging. These things not only prolong life but also positively affect its quality.
Interestingly, people who age faster struggle 8 times more with daily tasks and experience cognitive decline 4 times faster. This significantly affects their quality of life and independence.
Therefore, it was once again confirmed that the country or environment in which one lives plays a decisive role in human health. A place of residence is not just an address, but a key factor that defines your body’s future condition, activity level, and healthy aging. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
