Skirt Ban in British Schools: Parents Displeased
Some public schools in the United Kingdom will introduce a ban on girls wearing skirts starting from the 2025–2026 academic year. According to the new regulation, all students will now be required to wear a uniform consisting of trousers and a formal top. This news has caused strong objections from many parents.

The Ministry of Education also responded to the situation, emphasizing that the main goal of this decision is to reduce parents' extra expenses. They stated that instead of branded uniforms, simple and affordable clothing is being recommended for everyone.

"Schools have the right to make their own decisions. We provide recommendations, not mandatory requirements. Trousers are also comfortable for girls and do not restrict their activity," the official statement said.

Interestingly, this innovation is reportedly introduced to promote “gender equality.” That is, eliminating skirts is intended to reduce the differences between students.

However, many parents see this decision as inappropriate and even a restriction of rights. They believe school uniforms should not interfere with girls’ personal choice.

At the same time, some schools have refused to implement this policy. Therefore, approaches to this issue are expected to vary across the UK.
