The company is now obligated to pay VAT in Uzbekistan. However, it’s the buyers who will ultimately pay the tax, as VAT is included in the final price of goods.
Alongside eBay, 63 other foreign internet companies have registered with the VAT office, including Netflix, Amazon, Google, Apple, Zoom, and others.
In the first nine months of 2024, these companies earned a combined 850 billion UZS in Uzbekistan and paid 102 billion UZS in taxes. Their annual growth rate averages around twofold.
However, it remains unclear how this will proceed, as e-commerce companies are now required to have a legal entity in Uzbekistan. Currently, neither eBay nor Amazon have one. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
