Uzbekistan is increasingly expanding its trade relations in the international arena. According to preliminary data published by the State Committee on Statistics, during the period of January-July of the current year, the volume of the country’s foreign trade turnover reached 44.4 billion US dollars, the agency reported.

This figure is 7.4 billion US dollars higher compared to the indicator recorded in the same period last year. It was noted that the growth rate amounted to 19.9 percent. This situation is evaluated as an important indicator of the country’s participation and stable development in the world market.

Export and import indicators

It is reported that 20.1 billion US dollars of the total foreign trade turnover accounted for exports. This is 34.9 percent more compared to last year. The volume of imports amounted to 24.3 billion US dollars, increasing by 9.9 percent. The significant increase in exports in absolute figures indicates the growth of the country’s production capacity and the increasing competitiveness of product types.

Trade partners and leading countries

At present, Uzbekistan has established trade relations with 197 countries of the world. This shows that the country has broad opportunities in the field of international cooperation.

The main share of foreign trade turnover falls on China — 18.2 percent. The share of trade with Russia amounted to 16.1 percent. In addition, Kazakhstan (5.9%), Turkey (3.6%), and the Republic of Korea (2.2%) are also noted as Uzbekistan’s leading partners.
