10,000 Uzbek Citizens to Participate in Nuclear Power Plant Construction in Jizzakh

The construction of the nuclear power plant (NPP) in the Jizzakh region is planned to involve more than 13,000 personnel. Of these, 10,000 will be Uzbek nationals, while the remaining 3,000 will be citizens of Russia.

This information was provided by Pavel Bezrukov, Vice President of "Atomstroyexport" company. Previously, it was reported that up to 20,000 people might be engaged at various stages of the NPP construction.

In October, it was announced that work had commenced to provide housing for construction workers and to develop infrastructure. Uzbekistan's nuclear power plant is designed to have a total capacity of 2.1 gigawatts and will consist of both large and small reactors.

The country's leadership views the power plant as a symbol of a new wave of industrialization. The main contractor for this project is the "Rosatom" company, with "Enter Engineering" serving as the subcontractor responsible for carrying out the construction.
