Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree to develop the tourism sector for the coming years. According to the decree, by 2030, the share of tourism in the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is set to increase from 3.5 percent to 7 percent.
The annual influx of foreign tourists to Uzbekistan is planned to grow from 10 million to 20 million, with a particular focus on attracting high-spending visitors. The export of tourism services is expected to exceed $6 billion annually.
Among the priority tasks is the improvement of transport connections between Uzbekistan’s tourist cities. Plans include expanding the domestic air travel network and reducing travel time by threefold.
In terms of infrastructure development, the number of four- and five-star hotels is planned to double, and there will be efforts to diversify services and products. Moreover, Uzbekistan aims to create a globally recognized tourism brand and introduce new methods to promote its national products internationally.
