A new way to strengthen closeness with children
Scientists from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands conducted an interesting study on improving closeness between parents and children. They found that short conversations based on specially designed questions help children feel more loved and valued. According to experts, this method plays an important role in strengthening the family atmosphere.

The study involved children aged 8 to 13 and their parents. Parents were asked to pose questions such as, “Where would you like to travel?” or “What is the strangest event in your life?” The conversations lasted only nine minutes, but afterward, children felt more attention and affection than before.

The researchers call this phenomenon “closeness through openness.” When people share their thoughts and feelings with others, trust and sincerity between them grow stronger. Such meaningful talks help children feel listened to and appreciated.

During observations, the experts found that many families had not previously discussed such deep topics. Parents usually talk with their children about school, games, or daily matters. However, such sincere conversations allow parents to better understand their children’s inner world.
