A specific procedure for collecting sponsorship funds is being determined in Uzbekistan

Currently, due to the lack of a clear legislative framework for collecting sponsorship donations, there are many cases of individuals with malicious intent taking advantage of citizens' trust and unjustly acquiring their money and property.

This trend may increase the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as negatively affect Uzbekistan's position in the World Charity Index.

Today, February 25, a draft law was considered at a plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

It is noted that the adoption of this law will serve to prevent violations of the procedure for collecting sponsorship donations, ensure transparency in the activities of sponsorship organizations, and increase citizens' trust in sponsorship organizations.

According to it, the collection of sponsorship donations in cash is carried out only through a donation box and by transferring money to the bank accounts of sponsorship organizations, legal entities providing or receiving sponsorship in accordance with the procedure established by law.

In the event that sponsorship donations are collected in the form of property, a list of property received is formed and an act is drawn up indicating its type and quantity (volume).

The processes of collecting sponsorship donations are announced in the media, official websites or pages on social networks and are reflected in tax reports.

Individuals may collect sponsorship donations in cash or property only for themselves or their close relatives. Volunteers are required to assist recipients who are strangers to them only by placing an advertisement.

Donation boxes are transparent and are installed only by sponsoring organizations, legal entities that provide or receive sponsorship.

The process of opening a donation box and counting donations is carried out in the presence of an authorized representative of the charity organizer and at least two witnesses.
